Daniela Ryf to race again on home soil in July
Following an impressive win at Ironman Frankfurt earlier this month, Daniela Ryf has confirmed her race schedule for this season, including Ironman 5150 in Zurich on July 28.
Daniela showed incredible form at Ironman Frankfurt, achieving her third European Championship title with one of the best Ironman races of her career. With a new course record and finishing 26 minutes ahead of second-placed Sarah True of the USA, Daniela said: "I was pretty exhausted afterwards, but during the race I felt strong and smooth and was able to enjoy the day."
Following the race, Daniela and her coach, Brett Sutton, confirmed her next races. She will take part in the 5150 Zurich, an Olympic distance race. "I am really happy to race again in Switzerland in front of my home crowed," she said. Choosing a shorter distance event - 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run - enables Daniela will give her an opportunity to work on her speed.
Her next race, Ironman 70.3 in Gdynia, Poland, on August 5 will provide further competition practice. "In addition, such races help to improve my form," Daniela said. The race strategy should position her well to defend her 2017 Ironman 70.3 World Cup title in South Africa on September 1.
